Black And White Discussion # 5
Hello "Black And White" readers, ( Sam, Jenna, Noah, Amy, Claire, and Walid) this has been a great book so far ! So my question is, Why do you think that Denyse told her family so suddenly about her and Tomas dating? Explain. If you where Denyse's father how would you feel? Explain.

I think that Denyse told her family so suddenly about her and Thomas dating because she wanted to make sure they were okay with it. Upon telling all of her family members they seemed very surprised. Perhaps she was looking for a different reactions when telling them, but she could have told them just to see how they would react. Denyse was probably looking for confirmation from her parents about being allowed to date Thomas. That way, they wouldn’t have to sneak around or not tell them about what they did together. Even though the family was surprised, I think that Denyse was just seeing how they would feel. It may not have been the most appropriate time to come out to her parents about their relationship but I think Denyse thought it was a good time to tell them. While they were all together and with guests so that they couldn’t be extremely mad.
ReplyDeleteI think Denyse told her family about her and Tomas dating so suddenly because she just couldn’t handle keeping secrets from her family I think this because, Denyse seems like the kind of person who can’t keep secrets from her family and tells them everything, and because her dad is a pastor her family may think it’s wrong to keep secrets. I think Denyse’s father was in shock. I think the whole family was shocked. If I was the father I would be disappointed in her for not saying anything. And I think that I would be worried about her safety.

ReplyDelete@ Amanda :) - Your idea is very unique too! I agree, Denyse does not seem like she could handle keeping a secret from anyone, let alone her parents. I also agree with the second thing you said, I would be disappointed in my daughter for NOT saying anything.

ReplyDeleteI think that reason is that Denyse was tired of people always putting her down because of the fact that she likes tommas, and maybe there might be some guilt in there beacuse Denyses family might have found out that the ''word of the street'' was thay she was dating or that she likes tommas so she decided to come clean.
I if i were Denyses father i honestly wouldn't care that she was dating Tom. However it would bother me that everyone else isn't okay with it, or back-bitting them because of the racial differences. No body deseves to be taled about rudly because of the fat that she is black and he is a coucasian
